Shopping online has become a norm for most Americans. Because of the “on the go” mentality, there is less and less time to go shopping at stores. Also, with the rising cost of tolls and gas, it’s more cost effective to buy things on the web. Whether you’re shopping for back-to-school clothes, a winter coat for your spouse, or a sweater for your mom on her birthday, websites such as http://www.offers.com provide access to a boatload of items that will make lovely gifts.

Variety

Online shopping gives consumers the opportunity to find nearly anything–not only items that may be out of stock in their local store, but also items that have since been discontinued. Access to more variety makes shopping easier, more fun, and will result in better gifts for your loved ones. Clothes shopping is easier because you’ll have access to a wider range of sizes

Coupon Codes

When shopping online, consumers can find coupon codes to save themselves extra money. These codes may include a percentage off an order, free shipping or free gifts. There are a variety of websites that provide these codes to consumers looking to save some money. If you love fashion, there are plenty of discount codes available for clothes from your favorite designer.

Save Time

By shopping online, you avoid traffic, long lines and crowded stores. This gives you quick access to a store’s inventory. No searching the store for certain items, no rain checks, and no wait as the clerk checks for your size shoe in the back.

Free Shipping

Many stores such as Borders, Wal-Mart and other department stores offer free shipping to those who shop online. Why wait? Search online for items you need. Save some time, money and find better deals.

All those tall pretties, don’t be sad. You’ll still have some print work — maybe. It’s sad to see that we may never see another human being strutting their stuff on the catwalk during fashion week in New York City. Why bother?

It’s a venture for many worth looking into for one reason: money. Do you have any idea how much models get paid just for walking a runway? For wearing clothes? Let’s just say that a supermodel can live off of it pretty stress free. But thanks to technology, it’s slowly becoming a dying race, this supermodel race.

Image via Wikipedia

Enter: the realm of robotics.

Just two years ago, a scientist by the name of Masayoshi Kataoka invented a novel creation: the automated catwalk model. Yes, a robot. Take a look at sorc.org and see for yourself!

Now you’re probably laughing right now: imagine a walking robot wearing fashion clothes on the runway. Ideal?

The fact was that this 158-centimeter-tall, outlandishly designed automaton hardly impressed the masses because of one important reason: the robot didn’t act human enough. Mostly all it did was stomp around like a walking toaster and ‘pose’ in a way that a model should, only this walking toaster wasn’t a human model as in this photo. It was almost a mockery.

For that reason, the job security of the supermodel remains safe. But for how long?

Technology is rapidly evolving — almost on a daily basis. How long will it take before the runway crawls with walking robots wearing Gucci and Ralph Lauren? Modeling agencies better keep tabs on the times — for the future is coming.

The dangers of automation have forever been whispered — with men exchanging their uncertainties, warning of the potential worries. Machinery, it’s assumed, is too much of a convenience. It will eventually consume the middle-class, stealing employment opportunities and forcing millions to be without support.

Such claims are met with caution, and a little disbelief. There is much still to debate about the influence of robotics on the economy.

There can be no debate, however, that one position will forever remain human: fashion modeling.

In 2009 Masayoshi Kataoka (member of Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology) unveiled an automated catwalk model. The robot — which stood 158 centimeters and boasted exaggerated features, offering a deliberately cartoonish appearance — debuted at the Institute amid a flurry of photographers. This collection of wires and battery-powered operations received commands via a transmitter and was told to pose like a fashionista.

The results were less than thrilling.

The machine lacked the fluid motions of human models, stomped her way instead down the runway. Her expressions were perpetually startled and her figure did not lend itself to the ideals of fashion. The effect was simply too jarring.

And, because of this, the job security of models remains in tact. Few can deny the novelty of a robot posing for the camera. Fewer still, however, can deny that the attempt is ultimately futile, with the purpose of style meant to embody creativity and not science.

This has led many to propose alternative uses for Kataoka’s invention — none of which involve the fashion industry.

Manufacturing denim is a complex process, and constructing jeans is a highly skilled task. But what happens when workers begin demanding higher wages for their labor? Technology advancements have begun to shift the labor force in the denim industry into the hands of robots and machines. The demand for jeans is as high as ever, and the price of cotton is on the rise due to natural disasters in high cotton producing areas. Chinese and other foreign manufacturing companies simply cannot afford to pay the exorbitant price of cotton as well as meet the increasing demands of its workforce.

Machines do most of the work in the manufacturing of denim. The first two steps, called carding and spinning, are both executed using advanced machines. The carding process cleans and straightens the cotton and gathers it into one strand. The spinning process turns the cotton strands into yarn, which are then washed and dyed.

For dyeing and sizing, various machines are used depending on the type of denim being manufactured. Once dyed and sized, the denim must be weaved. There are two machine-based methods for weaving: convention shuttle weaving by an automatic loom, and a weaving system using Airjet or rapier looms. The shuttle-less weaving process is much quicker and is being adapted more rapidly in the industry.

Jean construction is where the skilled laborer would traditionally take over from the machines, but as technology advances, non-humans are carrying out even this step in the process. The jean design pattern must first be cut out of cardboard then placed on large sheets of denim so as to maximize the material. While a worker can perform this step, a computer is able to calculate the best method immediately. The denim is cut, bundled by size and sent for sewing.

Laborers still mostly sew the jeans, but technology advancements are continuing to push workers out of that step, too.

People are looking more and more at buying clothing that is “Made in the USA”. For years there was a drain out of the United States of manufacturers who could not compete with foreign pricing. Many companies pay their employees less outside of the country than they do within the United States. Significantly less.

These wages could be much better than what the employees could make outside of the factory so they are really helping these people. Nonetheless, this does not help the American who has lost his or her job to a worker in another country. Now these jobs are beginning to come back. Recognize that they are different kinds of jobs than what left.

The US cannot compete with the low wages of foreign countries, but we can compete technologically. More US textile manufacturers are putting in more computer controlled systems with robotics doing some of the work.

Cutting out fabric can be controlled to a level that humans cannot manage. With a robotic system cutting the fabric from a bolt there is less waste and greater precision. A size six is always a six and will wear exactly the same from garment to garment. Much of the sewing can now be done robotically and with speed and precision.

As these systems are implemented there is need for trained technicians to watch and quality check the robotic systems. They need to know how to tweak the system to keep them running optimally. They need to understand the robotic and computer systems to keep them working and to fix them when they do break down.

Yes there are fewer humans per bale of clothing leaving the factory, but there are now more Americans employed in the clothing industry than there were just a few years ago. Thank you robotics!

Building a brand of any kind online takes a long time. It’s not an overnight process, but building a clothing brand online can feel like an eternity. The brand you set out for the world will always take time to catch on. Fashion is a tricky thing. What is hot today will be out of fashion tomorrow, but then come back en vogue in a few years. However, this uncertainty shouldn’t discourage you from finding how your brand is doing and how it could be improving.

Since you can’t meet face to face with these customers it’s important to install a customer satisfaction survey to your website so that users can rate their experience doing business with you. The people you are ultimately trying to please are the ones that have shown a willingness to buy product from you before. These people need to be happy and getting their thoughts in a survey might be the very best way to do it.

Many people look at surveys as a hindrance and something meant to set you back but the survey, when filled out appropriately can provide meaningful insight into how your clients see your business. It’s important to know not just what they think but why they think it. Just knowing they aren’t interested in shopping at your site again would not be helpful. Finding out they are in disagreement with the prices will tell you a lot about your business, whether you can fix it or not.

The surveys themselves can be fully customizable. You can choose to ask whatever questions you would like. It’s only fair that you ask what you think matters to help your business in to the future. Getting feedback from the kind of people that pay the bills are definitely important to the overall health and success of your business. Not just for now, but for the future.

Sewing by hand has been around for over 20,000 years. Starting with needles made of bones or animal horns these sewers used animal sinew for thread. The 14th century brought iron needles and the 15th century added the eye to the needle.

Patents for sewing machines that did not work were issued from 1755 to 1818 with seven different men trying to mechanize the process of sewing. Finally in 1830 the French tailor, Barthelemy Thimonnier invented the first functional sewing machine and was almost killed in the riot from French tailors who torched his garment factory, burning it to the ground. They were afraid that his invention would put them out of work.

Walter Hunt created America’s first working machine in 1834. He did not patent the machine because he was afraid of causing unemployment with the machine. In 1846 Elias Howe became the first American to receive a patent. He later fought against Isaac Singer, and won, a patent war based on the lockstitch that he invented. Singer paid the patent royalties. For Howe it was a boon economically as the next 13 years saw him earn close to two million dollars from the lockstitch he patented, up from annual earnings of $300.

The first chain-stitch sewing machine using a single thread as invented by James Gibbs and patented in 1857. The first woman to patent a sewing machine was Helen Augusta Blanchard who patented a zig-zag stitch machine in 1873. She would eventually have a total of 29 patents for improvements including surgical needles and a hat sewing machine.

It is because of these sewing machine pioneers that we enjoy inexpensive, durable and well made clothing today. Without them we would still probably have just one or two drab outfits to wear.

Cotton has been used to make clothing for thousands of years. Cotton is a wonderful source for clothing as it is soft to the skin, durable against the stresses placed against it and can be dyed and woven into many colorful and attractive patterns.

Cotton is grown in the southern United States and in many other countries with like climates around the world. As the plant matures it has a fluffy boll that surrounds the seed of the cotton plant. The cotton gin, invented by American Eli Whitney in 1793 and patented in 1794, was a major boon to the cotton industry.

This invention allowed more cotton to be grown and harvested without having to use as much slave labor to produce clothing. Separating the fluffy boll from the seed was time consuming and painful. The seed is sharp like a needle and will prick the workers. There is a reason that much cotton clothing was colored reddish brown throughout history.

After the gin has removed the fluffy boll from the seed it intertwines the fibers into cotton threads. Now the cotton can be used for many different uses including yarns, laces and threads. Each of these creates different textures of clothing and allows the clothing manufacturer to create many visual variations, all using cotton.

These variations are created on looms which are large mechanisms where the cotton is woven into row upon row of interweaved patterns and become cloth. This woven cloth can either be made directly into the end product or it can be cut and sewn into a new garment. The versatility of cotton cloth is one of its major strengths.

Add in the fact that cotton effectively retains colored dyes and the clothing manufacturer can add even more variety to the clothing they are producing. Today it is not unusual to see clothing racks at a store and each garment is virtually identical to the next with color and size variations being the difference between the clothes. Intricate weavings of the yarn, lace and tread can create stunning garments that are beautiful and durable.

In today’s world everyone wears clothing. Anthropologists estimate humans started wearing some form of clothing between 100,000 and 500,000 years ago. This is a long history of placing something over our bodies to hide our nakedness.

The first clothing was made from animal skins, animal furs, grasses, leaves, bones or shells. Different people throughout the world created different coverings depending on their surroundings. They would look around and use what they found to create some form of clothing. The bible teaches that Adam and Eve made “coats of skins” after leaving the Garden of Eden. As ancient man used animals for food they also used their skins to provide warmth and comfort.

Anciently clothing was often draped or tied. People learned how to make wonderful draping garments. It was woven as a circle from the beginning and you draped it over you to stay clothed and warm or cool. Many people around the equator wore clothing to protect their bodies from the head of the sun. It was not just people in cold climates that used clothing.

After needles were discovered people could sew arm portions to the body of the garment and have more form fitting and much more functional clothing. Weaving itself was a major change and then humankind discovered the sewing machine.

We still wear clothing that is made from animal skins, animal furs, grasses, leaves, bones or shells, but natural and synthetic threaded garments are by far the norm and often these ancient materials are used as creative add-ons to the garment. They are now the baubles added to make it look beautiful or different.

Today, each of us no longer has only one or two sets of clothing, painstakingly put together by our own family. We now purchase clothing that is inexpensive and durable. Each of us often has hundreds of different garments we wear. The evolution of clothing from “you kill it, you wear it”, to today’s inexpensively mass produced clothing industry is impressive and we as a world have embraced this change with open, welcoming arms.

Berkshire Hathaway was a textile company that was started in 1888 by Horatio Hathaway. By 1962 Warren Buffett started to buy shares in the company because he believed that it was heavily undervalued and the price of the stock would come up. Buffett gradually increased his share of the company until he owned 49% of the company and used his votes to change the management of the company.

He put Ken Chase in as President to run the company and Buffett, himself, looked after the financial infrastructure of the company. Shares for Berkshire Hathaway were bought by Buffett for $15 a share and were selling at $18.

During this time Buffett began to use Berkshire Hathaway in two roles. Berkshire Hathaway continued to produce textiles as the core business and Buffett used them as an investment vehicle. As time moved on Buffett knew that the industry was struggling against the cheaper foreign production of clothing. Buffett realized that the mills were struggling and kept them open for years past what they probably would have without him. By 1985 the mills of Berkshire Hathaway were not even tentatively profitable and he closed the doors to the textile portion of the business.

At this time Buffett moved from one commodity business to another, insurance. Through Berkshire Hathaway, Buffett eventually acquired GEICO General Insurance Company in 1994, having owned stock in the company since 1943. At the time Buffett acquired GEICO their situation was similar to when he bought Berkshire Hathaway. They were both fundamentally sound companies which were heavily undervalued and Buffett felt that both would do better with him running the financial side of the company.

With Berkshire Hathaway even Buffett could not keep the textile company alive against the flow of textile jobs out of the United States. However, with GEICO his genius was able to shine through. He has helped make GEICO into the third largest insurance company in the country. We all know the green lizard that is their spokesman. GEICO insurance is what it is today because of a failed business investment in the textile industry…Berkshire Hathaway.

Your three year old child picks up her cute little scissors and cuts through the paper. As she does so you almost totally ignore her. Her scissors are sharp enough to cut the paper but have blunt ends, plastic parts and they are difficult to actually hurt her. This was not always so.

Scissors have been around for over 3,500 years. They apparently were first invented in Egypt around 1500 B.C. and were made of bronze. Each piece of metal was sharpened on one edge and then each scissor rubbed against the other scissor using a fulcrum to provide the pivot. They then cut the paper or cloth or whatever needed cutting. Slowly the scissors spread throughout the world.

The Romans, in about 100 A.D., improved the design by creating cross-blade scissors. Most of the improvements to scissors are lost in time and we cannot trace their origin. Somewhere in time someone found that greater control could be found by adding a screw or rivet in the middle of the two scissors and adding loops for fingers.

Londoner Robert Hinchcliffe, in 1761, invented steel cast scissors. Today almost all scissors are steel cast for the cutting edge. Children’s scissors will have the steel cast blades with plastic handles and coverings to protect the children from cutting themselves.

Scissors needed to be sharpened to be effective. To protect the edges artisans would often place them into a cover, usually made of leather. As they were often handmade they did not just throw them away when they were no longer sharp. Scissors in a family could last for generations.

There is not much known about the history of scissors. What we see above is all there is known about it. As people made improvements they just made them and continued working. To most of them it was just another tool and not all the extraordinary. Most of the improvements were made by ordinary people making ordinary changes to an ordinary piece of equipment. No big deal.

This world is one in which virtually every single inhabitant depends on the forces of science and technology to survive. This is true to a greater or lesser extent. In this regard, it is important to know that in various industries, manufacturers have incorporated the use of robots in the various stages of manufacturing. This is a measure that helps to bring down the cost of production to the barest minimum in addition to maximizing profits. Apart from that, it is also important that the robots are always more efficient and effective than their human counterparts.

However, what we do most of the time is to stress the fact that robots are very useful in the manufacturing of goods, forgetting the important fact that in the first place, the robots themselves have to undergo a manufacturing phase too. In terms of manufacturing robots, one thing that always comes to mind is the fact that there are some nations of the world that are regarded as the ‘natural leaders’ when it comes to the manufacturing of robots. In this club, one will find Asian nations like Japan, South Korea and China. In Western Europe, the Scandinavian countries of Finland, Sweden and Norway are also strongly regarded while the United States of America is a leader as well in the robot industry.

To manufacture robots as an individual may not be very easy. In fact, it is so challenging and capital intensive that in many cases, robots are manufactured by government corporations or large industries. However, either private or public, there are some general features. One of this is the fact that to manufacture robots on a large scale, funds that will run into millions of dollars will be needed. Apart from the capital, you will also need to hire those that have the necessary expertise and get government approval.

Even though there is no need denying the fact that robots are now integral parts of our lives, it is also important to realize that there was a time and period when there was nothing like a robot and people lived their lives. Therefore, it will be a nice idea to imagine for a minute a world without the millions of robots that we have today in various industries and corporations working round the clock.

In such a world like it was in the time gone past, one of the most obvious changes that will be noticed will be that workers and laborers will erupt in joy and celebrations since they will get their jobs back. In fact some of them will celebrate the ‘End of Robot Day’ with so much excitement and energy in the air. The reason for this is quite simple and is related to the fact that not a few workers have lost their jobs to these cold and impassionate objects of technology that work based on commands and programs. Therefore, a world without robots is one that many workers will be very pleased with. This is especially true for nations like China, South Korea and Japan where robots contibute actively to the productivity of many industriess.

A world without robots will also mean that there will be nothing like exploring the depths of the oceans or the distant reaches of outer space. The reasons for these are quite clear. One is the fact that the inhospitable depths of the oceans can only be explored by robots at the moments and the same thing applies to the exploration of other planets like Mars where robotic rovers scan the surface for signs of life. A world without robots will also mean that there will be nothing like precision-guided cruise missiles or drones, and you can guess the implications of that.

It has often been said that no knowledge is wasted. Therefore, if you have a fascination with robots or automated objects, then you may decide to study robotics. It is a very interesting area of discipline and one in which you will be able to make good use your mental faculty, especially in terms of creativity. Apart from that, the pay that you will get as an expert in robotics is also quite encouraging especially if you finished from prestigious institutions such as MIT, Yale or Harvard.

However, it is one to like robots; it is an entirely different ball game to study robotics. To study robotics, you must have the right aptitude and fervor for calculation and drawing. Therefore, if you nurse a great hatred or fear for subjects like maths, statistics, physics and technical drawing, then you can as well forget about becoming a specialist of robots. these subjects are essential and very important if you want to make a career out of studying robots. Once you have nice grades in the subjects and you pass your SAT with flying colors, then you can dream of developing the next great thing in the robot industry.

However, as a student that is studying robotics, you need to fortify yourself with some qualities that will prove useful. One thing is that you really need to be persevering and patient as an undergraduate and even after you graduate. This is because of the fact that there are some experiments and designs that you must carry out times without number before you get the desired results. At such moments, it can be very tempting to become dejected and frustrated but when you remember that nothing good comes easy, then you will cheer up and design your own lunar rover. At the end of the day when you become a roboticist, you will discover that it was worth the trouble.

It is not uncommon for you to see people in this century gather round and have very interesting discussions on the impact and effects of science and technology on our lives. And without a doubt, science and technology have really shaped our lives in many ways, some of which we do not even know. Of the many influences that science has brought on us, one of the most exotic is that of the science of robotics. Even though many will want to think that robotics is a new science, it is important to stress the fact that the science of robotics have been with us for centuries right before the times of Leonardo da Vinci, the great Italian scientist who also made valuable contributions to robotics.

It is quite interesting to know that robots have found more uses and applications in the 21st century more than any other period in human history. Nowadays, it is not a new thing to see robots in the hospitals where they are used to assist in surgical procedures. As a matter of fact, some surgical procedures are carried out by a robot, under the control and guidance of a surgeon. In fact, this technique has transformed into a bigger thing in what is now known as telemedicine. Telemedicine is a relatively new concept in which a doctor is able to treat patients over long distances using agents of technology such as robots.

If you think that not impressive enough, then that is perhaps because of the fact that you have never thought of the fact that robots can also be responsible for saving your life. Well, the fact is that robots are used by the military forces of various nations in offensive and defensive capacities. Apart from these uses, robots have found many other uses and it is no wonder that it has been described as the next frontier.

The Obama administration has long been promising new green jobs for more workers, but it also appears that some of these workers are not actually going to be humans, but instead they are going to be robots. There are some new designs in robotic engineering that are being encouraged in alliances that exist between leaders in the industry such as Reis Robotics and Dow Corning Corporation, and the result of these new design and these alliances could create a stiff amount of competition between machine and man when it comes to assembly jobs.

Are Robots Taking Jobs Away from Humans?

This trend is not going to be limited to just corporate entities. There are a number of test projects that are employing robots for on-site operations based on Federal funding, such as the kinetic hydro-power facilities at Tulane University. Robots are beginning to perform a wide variety of duties which are going to cut down on production costs, but they may also unfortunately limit or eliminate some jobs that could potentially have gone to workers of the human persuasion.

Dow Corning is beginning to employ robots in order to produce solar cells that are silicon based and lower cost as an effort to make all of their products more competitive. Their goal is to greatly automate the assembly process and the production process for their products. These tactics are considered to be judicious in order to keep their investment in the alternative energy industry a profitable one, in order to create new jobs and to encourage the future of development.

The general management behind Reis Robotics, who is Doctor Michael Wenzel, has explained that the company is confident that proven robotics solutions are going to help the solar industry to reach a point of grid parity along with achieving lower production costs and an economy of scale.

For those of you that are ardent lovers of science fiction, especially those futuristic novels that were written by the likes of Isaac Asimov, it is normal for you to have this feeling that many of the things that you are reading in the sci-fi novels or watching in the films are no longer dreams but what is actually happening in the real life. This is one of the most amazing things about the 21st century. Technology is moving at a rate that even man cannot predict, or may not be able to control in the nearest future. One of the most important inventions in recent times is the robot, an automated machine or what many will simply call the bot.

Robots are becoming more important and relevant by the day; they are being used in various stages of decision-making and some other aspects of our lives. If you doubt this, then you are under-estimating the power and reach of technology or you are simply not aware of the many applications of the robots. They have been demonstrated to be so useful that some analysts have referred to the robots as a kind of ‘man-machine’. All you need is just take a look at the various industries and mega-corporations of the world and you will see that it is not too difficult to see the fingerprints of the bots everywhere.

Some of the areas where robots have been employed include healthcare, warfare, deep-sea exploration, engineering, mining, oil exploration, geography and the exploration of the outer space. Apart from these sophisticated explorations, it is heartwarming to know that there are some other domestic uses of the robots, and these include taking care of the elderly, vacuum cleaning the home, mowing the lawn, washing the dishes and some other house chores. Without any doubt, the man-machine has really evolved.

Technology is changing the way every aspect of our lives work. It’s certainly changing the way we work. As technology continues to grow and evolve, businesses will continue to adapt new services and programs. One area that is seeing some change with the addition of more technology is the call center.

In a traditional call center, customer service representatives answer telephone calls from customers. These calls can range from technical issues to questions. Call centers are typically one big room filled with people and telephones. They are noisy and often difficult to work in. Very few changes have occurred in the traditional call center for many years. Long hours, difficult customers, and usually low salaries have led to the frustration with a traditional call center format.

The new call center, one filled with the latest technology, is much different. The Internet has much to do with how call centers have changed. No longer are there traditional phone lines in many cases. Many call centers employ VoIP technology, which is basically having a live conversation via the Internet. To the outsider, it may look like the call is on a traditional telephone, but it is actually being conducted via the Internet. This eliminates expensive long distance bills.

Many call centers are now much more than just basic customer support. They also take on technical support issues. Call center employees have to be much more educated and able to handle complex technical issues. This allows for a diversity of work, which keeps an employee from being bored with mundane tasks. It also means higher salaries since employees are required to know and do more.

The face of a call center is changing because of technology. It is now possible to answer a myriad of issues with just one call or email to a call center. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for call centers.

Even though it is an accepted fact that this age is one that can be described as one of science and technology, it is also important to know that these forces have their own advantages coupled with the disadvantages. One of the most widespread uses of science and technology is in that of the area of robotics. Nowadays, robots are used in very many areas and some of these include medicine, oceanography, military activities, mining, space exploration and car assembling.

Although there is absolutely no point in denying the usefulness of the robots, it is also important to know that there are disadvantages. Without much ado, these disadvantages will be discussed in the following sections. The first of the numerous disadvantages have to do with the financial investments that must be made in the research and development of robots. In some of the cases, these robots cost millions of dollars to build and even in some cases, as the lunar rovers and those robots used on the planets like Mars, the cost can easily run into billions of dollars. Not surprisingly, not a few analysts have condemned the excessive amounts of money that must be pumped into the development of robots and argue that the funds could be used to solve problems on right here on earth, and some of these include poverty, unemployment and diseases.

Apart from the prohibitively high cost of designing and developing robots, another very pressing disadvantage is the fact that they lead to unemployment. For instance in various automobile industries all over the world where robots are been used for various manufacturing processes, this usually means that many workers will have to be laid off, thus increasing the level of unemployment. There is no need stressing the fact that unemployment is very inimical to the economy as this is quite obvious.

Mass production has had a direct impact on the job market. Many people assume that companies that are switching to the use of more machines and less people will reduce their workforce and begin firing people left and right. However, statistics show that companies that have switched to a mass production scale have actually increased their employment base by creating new areas in the company. Here is a look at some of the specific positions that have been created by companies switching to mass production.

Shipping and Receiving. The increased number of inventory that will be created by the mass scale production of the products will require an increase in the shipping and receiving area of a company. This is because there are more products that need to be shipped to vendors and stores. The more products that need to be shipped, the more people who need to work at packing and shipping the products out. Shipping and receiving jobs include anything from packing, moving boxes, stocking shelves and delivery of the products to the store.

Salesman/Saleswomen. An increase of products can also increase the sales force of a company. More products available will mean that more companies will have to hire people to get sales and get the product from the company to stores. Many companies that have switched to the mass production scale of products have had to double their sales force to get the products out there to the public.

Equipment Maintenance Staff. A company that relies upon machines to build products needs to make sure that those machines are running in peak condition. Many companies are hiring dozens of equipment maintenance staff that will monitor the equipment, clean it out and make sure that it runs smoothly. These maintenance staff members will also be knowledgeable in equipment repair should the machinery ever need to be repaired.

If you have a hobby such as sewing, painting, candle making or anything else that results in a handcrafted item, you have a potential online business on your hands. Etsy.com is a site that caters to people who want to buy and sell unique, hand-made items. It is a wildly popular site and has led to a renaissance of craftsmen who take pride in what they make. With Etsy and sites like it, the technology of third-party sales sites has made it easier and cheaper than ever for anyone to market their wares to the masses.

If you want to get in on this trend and create your own home business using your skills and talents, there are many things that need to be done before you begin. To start, you need capital for materials. Some people use

credit cards, others use sites like Payday One to borrow the money to get their business started. Once you have the start-up capital, you can begin creating your inventory.

With just one or two finished products, you can begin to list your items on Etsy and market your business. First, decide on your business name. It should in some way describe what you sell, or it can be simply a memorable name that people will come to associate with your hand-made items. Each listing that you create on Etsy will have your business name, so each listing should have a clear photograph and should be well written. This will give your business a good reputation among the many buyers who search the site for interesting, unique items.

Creating a Twitter account that sends messages each time you add a new product to your Etsy store will help you market your wares, and it costs nothing to do. Also create a Facebook page for your store and you’ll soon have a growing pool of customers.

Apart from the fact that the 21st century happens to be the most sophisticated in the history of humankind in terms of science and technology, it is important to know that it is also one that is always on the verge of a nuclear holocaust with nations threatening one another with annihilation and total destruction. As at the time of writing this, the number of conflicts and wars all over the globe are just too numerous. The United States of America alone is engaged in a very expensive and bloody war with two different countries –Iraq and Afghanistan. When you coupled that with the fact that the threat of terrorism is one that grows by the minute, then you will understand why many nations set aside billions for security and defense alone.

In other to leave no stone unturned in terms of defensive capabilities, not a few governments have turned to science and technology to protect them from the aggression of the enemy and also boost their offensive capability. The result of this is a vastly destructive and sophisticated military where you can find the most advanced stealth fighters, bombers, nuclear submarines, bombs and robots. Yes, robots are also very important in the military of today and they have found numerous uses.

In most cases, robots are used in the military for tasks that are considered too dangerous or risky for humans to carry out. These include the detonation of explosives such as bombs and mines. Robots are also used for surveillance of the enemy territory, and in this case, they have flying capabilities and are called drones. These drones are also used to fire cruise missiles (which are also robots in a sense) to enemy targets. As a result of the impressive success associated with the use of robots, not a few nations are considering building a robot army in future.

In the late 1800s, many companies made the switch from assembly lines manned by hundreds of workers to a mass production assembly line that contains a combination of human effort and machinery. While many people are against this switch in the assembly line, there are a number of great benefits that the mass production assembly line has brought to businesses. Here is a look at the benefits that come with mass production assembly lines.

Less Human Error. A lot of times on an assembly line there were human errors that occurred. For every human error, that resulted in lost revenue for the company. With the addiction of an assembly line that is controlled by machines, the risk for human error is reduced greatly. Less human error means higher productivity and increased revenues for the company.

Increased Productivity. When assembly lines were used it required that one human had to control everything. They had to fetch the piece of equipment, get their tools and conduct whatever business they had on the assembly line. With the machine employed assembly line, the pieces of the product can be retrieved quickly and in a timely fashion. This increases productivity and allows more products to be produced in greater amounts.

Consistency. On the human assembly line there was a tendency for some products to look different than others. This was because humans cannot produce the same product the same way all the time. When machines were introduced to the assembly line, they allowed companies to produce identical products all the time because the machines could recreate their motions time after time.

Increased Safety. A lot of assembly lines had workers working in unsafe conditions. With the introduction of the machine assembly line this took workers back a distance and allowed them to work in safer work conditions.

Right from the dawn of time, man has been dazzled by the prospect of traveling to the stars, crossing from one galaxy to the other and greeting neighbors in other solar systems. Although much of these still exists in our imagination, it is a thing of joy and excitement that man has made very impressive progress in space exploration. Owing to the centuries of tireless pursuit of science and technology by the men and women of knowledge, we were able to travel to the outer space with the launching of the Soviet cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin, the first man ever in space. As if that was not grand enough, the Americans were to shatter the Russian record by sending the trio of Neil Armstrong, Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin and Michael Collins to the moon in 1969.

After these epic adventures, it is interesting to know that the march of scientific progress and technological advancement has continued unhindered and as a matter of fact, man has been able to send crafts to places as far as Pluto and we have telescopes like the famed Hubble Telescope which peer constantly into the intimidating vastness of the Universe, in addition to other extraterrestrial probes.

However, as impressive as these achievements are, it is important to mention that the real champions have been unsung most of the time. Well, these unsung but quiet heroes are not the gravity-defying astronauts but the humble robots. There is virtually no space mission that was not executed without the aid of a robot. Robots have proven to be very useful to space exploration that agencies like NASA and various governments all over the globe do not think twice before pumping billions of dollars in their research and development. Therefore, the next time you are enjoying the amazing pictures of Mars sent by a lunar rover, remember the humble robot that does all the work under the scorching sun of Mars.

With advances in technology, there’s one thing for certain. The way jobs used to be performed has changed. Just a few years ago, jobs like farming, machinery, and production lines all relied solely on human power. Now, many of those same functions that were once performed by a human are done by machines and technology. The following is a list of job markets that have changed as technology has improved.

Farming. The farm field is a place where technology has definitely changed the way the work is done. One area of farming to consider is milking cows. It used to be that a farmer would have to wake up in the wee hours of the morning and milk his cows by hand. He’d do this again in the afternoon and then again in the evening. Now, machines can milk the cows. Sure, the farmer is still up early in the morning, but machines make milking much faster.

Manufacturing. The manufacturing field has seen a lot of changes in recent years with technology. Think about car manufacturing plants. Machines and robots now put the part of a car together, with very little human interaction. Where once a human needed to be involved in every aspect of putting a car together, now machines do most of the work.

General office. Even the average office has seen a difference in the way work is performed because of technology. Computers can answer telephone calls and route the caller to the correct person. Executives can communicate with offices around the world without ever stepping on an airplane, and even conduct business with just the click of a mouse.

Technology is changing the way the world works. From the business field to the farming field, technology and new advances make life simpler, sleeker, and in many cases, easier.

Some hundreds of years ago, the word ‘robot’ was not even in existence not to talk of its being discussed extensively. This is understandable considering the fact that robots were not as sophisticated and advanced as they are today, thus they did not feature much on the global scene. However, this is the 21st century and not a little has changed, a lot has been transformed. Science has become the king while technology is the queen and it seems that the robot is the sole heir to the throne. Yes, the tiny robot is to be never under-estimated, you do that at your own peril. This is a lesson that many workers have learnt in a very hard way.

Because of the fact that robots are now used in various areas and spheres of life, it is expected that they will have one effect or the other on the economies of nations in particular and the globe in general. This is particularly important for countries of Western Europe, the United States of America and the highly advanced Asian states of Japan, China and South Korea. Like fire, the effects of robots on the global economy has been both positive and negative.

This will be explained in the following lines. For example, in the technologically superior nations that have been mentioned in the earlier part of this article, robots have contributed positively in many ways to the development and growth of the economy. This is because through the use of robots, especially by the automobile industry, the productivity of each industry has been increased thus promoting exports of vehicles to other parts of the world. This boosts the economy by bringing in revenue in the tune of millions of dollars. On the other hand, widespread use of robots translates to the fact that some workers must be laid off thus increasing the level of unemployment, which is undoubtedly negative to the economy.

Modern technology is a wonderful thing. With all of the advances in computers, machinery, and tools, the job market is becoming a more advanced and savvy place. This is especially true in fields that use production lines, such as the car industry.

Many people may mock and scoff and say that machines and technology are making people unemployed, taking the jobs that once belonged to a human being. It’s easy to see this side of the argument, but those with this mindset don’t realize that human beings are still needed, even with the modern-day technology. There’s no place this is more evident than in a factory production line. Take a look at places where technology and human beings actually work together.

The actual production line is a different place as more machinery is in place to put cars, appliances, and other goods together. But humans are still needed. Someone needs to operate these machines after all. As advanced as technology is, it’s still not possible to have a machine function without someone to monitor and make sure it’s working as it should.

And what happens when those machines break down? Someone needs to be there to fix the problem. Again, an actual human being is needed to make the repairs. An expert in machine technology or a computer programmer is needed to make sure the machine is operating properly. In this case, new jobs are actually created as these types of positions were never needed before technology entered.

Shipping still needs a human being as well. Machines can’t package, prepare and ship products. The machines may deliver the goods to package, but the human touch is needed to finish the job.

The fact of the matter is that humans and machines can work together—both are needed for precise and accurate work.

More and more jobs are relying upon workers to work closely with industrial machines. Industrial machines are huge mechanical items that can cause a lot of damage to those working around if the proper safety protocols have not been followed. Blades, flying objects and loose belts are all items that could prevent a safety risk to workers that are working around these types of industrial machinery. In the United States, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration creates a list of safety requirements that all companies must follow. Here is a look at some of the safety requirements.

Anchors. All industrial machines must be securely fastened to the ground. This prevents them from moving freely around and causing a work hazard to anyone that works near the machine. It also prevents the placement of these large machines in the way of the workers which could prevent them from getting out of the factory should a fire occur.

Protection Shields. Protection shields are required on all pieces of equipment. These shields will prevent pieces of the machinery from coming lose and hitting the workers that are near the machines. Protection shields can also prevent workers from falling into the machines or getting too close to dangerous blades and belts that could severely harm them.

Stopping Mechanism. Some industrial machines have what are known as nip points. Nip points are parts of the machine that can easily catch hands and fingers in. If the machine has a nip point it must have a shield around that point. However, it must also have a stopping mechanism on it so that workers can safely stop the machines should they get caught in one of these nip points.

Protective Gear. Companies that have industrial machines must provide employees with the proper protective gear. This includes protective glasses, gloves, work aprons and work boots. All items are required to be provided by the employer to ensure the safety of the workers.

It is no longer news that one of the most interesting features of the current age is the overwhelming influence of science and technology and this is reflected in various facets of life. As a matter of fact, some jobs have been taken over by science and technology. If you do not get this, the point that is to be made concerns the fact that robots have now edged out workers from various positions of employment by replacing them and even doing the job better, neater and faster.

Before the advent of the so-called robots and automated machines, workers have always formed a very huge part of the labor force, with the machines forming a very little part. As a matter of fact, before the Industrial Revolution in Europe, the workers formed the only labor force that the capitalists had to rely on. Then came the great gale of technology and things changed, and drastically too. Althoug we are still very far from the state where robots controlled every aspect of our lives, like Isaac Asimov had predicted, robots are definitely not the best friends of workers.

The reason for the robot ‘hatred’ by workers is very glaring. Industries, factories and corporations all over the globe are laying off workers because of robots. And in fairness to the robots, they carry out the task perfectly with little or no mistakes, they do not complain or get tired or ask for a maternity leave. And even most interesting of all, they do not down tools because of unpaid salaries and wages, just power the robots and they work tirelessly. Therefore, it should not come as a surprise that most industry owners and company owners will prefer to use the predictable robots instead of mercurial humans. As long as this continues, workers will always despise the robots.

Many factories used to rely upon what was known as the assembly line for production of products. An assembly line would feature dozens of workers who assembled parts and moved them onto the next person. In the end the final product would be finished. However, during the Industrial Revolution the invention of mass production machines came into the picture and the old fashioned assembly line started to become a thing of the past.

Mass production machines work in a very similar fashion to the assembly line. The difference is that instead of workers there are machines that are doing the work. This mass production machinery really took off with companies that were looking to produce more products in half the time than it would take to assemble the products by hand. Machines offered companies the chance to produce a large amount of products that could be distributed. These companies were able to turn a larger profit because it cost less to purchase the machine and make it work than it did to hire employees to man the assembly lines. This prompted many companies to eliminate assembly lines that were manned by workers and switch to assembly lines that were manned with machines and very few workers.

One of the consequences that came with mass production machines was the amount of workers that were displaced and out of work. Machines were able to replace a large percentage of the assembly line workers and work for a fraction of the cost it took to hire assembly line workers. Instead of having 100 to 200 workers on an assembly line the numbers were reduced to 25 to 50 workers per assembly line. This meant that there were numerous people being laid off with no real chance of employment due to the limited number of positions that the assembly line has.

Mass production is also known as repetitive flow production, flow production, serial production and series production. This involves the production of very large amounts of products in a standardized way, including on assembly lines for example. The concepts that are associated with mass production are typically applied to a wide variety of different products including fluid products, particulates that are handled in bulk, mined minerals, discrete solid parts, part assemblies, chemicals, fuel, food, household appliances and even automobiles.

The origin of the term mass production comes from 1926. In the Encyclopedia Britannica, a supplement written about a correspondence with the Ford Motor Co. involved the use of this term within the article title, though the article was published prior to the Encyclopedia Britannica article.

Mass production of different assemblies typically requires the use of electric motor powered tracks or conveyor belts that move partially completed products down along the way to workers, and the workers are responsible for performing simple and repetitive tasks. Mass production can greatly improve upon earlier high-throughput and continuous flow methods of mass production that were made possible through the use of the steam engine.

Mass production of particulate matter and fluids typically involves screw conveyors, centrifugal pumps and pipes that transfer the raw materials or the partially completed products back and forth between different vessels. The fluid flow processors can be automated using a process control system, and this will rely on various instruments in order to measure a number of different variables. These variables may include pressure, temperature, volumetric throughput, level and other similar variables in order to provide feedback to a specific controller that has set points in mind.

In many ways, mass production can eliminate the need for as many workers by requiring the few necessary workers to perform only basic menial tasks, but in other ways, mass production can eliminate jobs all together by greatly automating the process of building things in massive quantities.

There is a timeless saying that states that health is wealth. With all honesty and sincerity, not too many statements can be as true as this. We all value our lives and well-being and most of us will do anything to protect that. In his ingenuity, man has been able to make a very clever and sensible use of the findings of science and technology to improve his own health and prolong life. This is the 21st century and these technological applications are becoming the mainstay in the medical world.

The various applications of technology in the medical field have brought numerous benefits and advantages that cannot be exhausted unless discussed in details. As of today, robots have also become part and parcel of the medical world. They have also been found to be very useful in various instances. At this point, it becomes imperative to discuss some of these uses. One of the most widespread of these is what is called telemedicine, or telemed for short. In telemedicine, the whole concept is all about the transmission and transfer of medical skills and advice over a communication medium, which is usually done via the Internet. For instance, a surgeon in a clinic in New York can direct an operation procedure like a laparoscopy for junior colleagues in Osaka, Japan by using video- conferencing over a 4G wireless Internet connection. In some other cases of telemedicine, a surgeon can be performing surgery on a patient at a remote by using a robot, which carries out the actual task of operation.

In another case, one that is different from telemedicine, robots have also been found to be quite useful, although this is still in the operating room. Vascular surgeons have been known to make use of microscopic robots to help in opening up cholesterol-clogged arteries.

It is assumed that once technology started to make its way into factories that it replaced a number of jobs. Historians paint a picture that machines replaced hundreds of people putting those people on the unemployment line and searching for a completely new job. While technology did eliminate the need for hundreds of workers standing on an assembly line, it created jobs in other areas of the workforce. It even created jobs right in the factories that the people were working in.

The first way that technology created jobs is by creating a need for more supervisors and management programs. While most computers and factory technology operate on their own, there needs to be a human supervising the machine’s process. With the number of machines that are in a factory it creates a need for a lot of supervisor and management positions. So while people are not working directly on the assembly line, they are working in the background making sure the machines are doing the job that they are supposed to.

A second way that technology created jobs was through the need for more marketing. Companies that use machines are increasing their inventory by almost 50%. This requires that the company hire a lot of marketing and sales reps to get that inventory to the stores and selling. Hundreds of thousands of sales positions opened up when machines started to take over and producing more inventory.

The last way that technology created jobs was that it produced the need for maintenance technicians within the factory. In order for the machines to produce the inventory that companies want, they need to be operating at peak levels. When a machine breaks companies need to have someone with the knowledge and ability to fix the machine and get it back up quickly. While the job wasn’t directly on the assembly line it did create another position within the factory.

To be hardworking and industrious are virtues that are very much cherished in a human being. Afterall, it has been said that hardwork never kills but laziness does. However, with the widespread use of science and technology, it is important to know that a new definition has been given to the concept of hardwork. Nowadays, it is not uncommon to see a hardworking machine doing the work of a man. This brings us to the new frontier of technology, the realm of robots.

Ever since they were invented, man has always found a way to maximize the utility value of robots by putting them to good use. In the 21st century, that is no longer news as robots are now used in many industries, the only thing is that their names do not appear on the payroll of the company or organization that is using them. One of the industries that has come to depend on the use of robots is the bottling industry where canned and bottled beverages are made. In such industries, many of the repetitive processes such as corking, decorking, washing, label printing and so on are the major processes and stages of production and can be carried out by robots.

Another industry that makes a very good of robot ‘labor force’ is the car manufacturing industries. In these industries, automobiles are now assembled by machines and robots instead of human laborers. This is a method that has been applied by various automobile giants such as Honda, Hyundai, Kia and Toyota. It is interesting to know that these industries are located in countries such as Japan and South Korea both of which have the largest concentration of robots anywhere in the world. The use of robots come with various advantages, one of which is a significantly lowered cost of production.

CNC is an acronym that stands for Computer Numerical Control, and this has been around since the 1970s. Before the 1970s, the same system was simply known as Numerical Control or NC. Computers were introduced into these controls during the 1970s, which is why there was a name change. CNC plays an important role in nearly every form of manufacturing across the globe in some way or another. People that work in manufacturing of any type generally experience CNC in some form or another.

CNC machines are typically designed to replace existing manufacturing machines and processes, or to work in conjunction with them. For example, one of the simplest of all manufacturing processes is to drill holes, which is something that any drill press is capable of doing. A person can set up the drill press, involving setting the speed, securing the drill bit in the drill chuck and so on, or a machine can automate a great deal of the process. There is a great deal of manual intervention involved in many simple manufacturing processes, including simple drilling. The benefit behind a CNC machining process is to greatly simplify the process by allowing a computer to control much of the process for you.

The CNC machine equivalent of a typical drill press can actually be programmed in such a way that the operation is carried out in an automated fashion. Everything that the human drill press operator was responsible for doing by hand can now be managed by a machine, including putting the drill in the spindle, activating that spindle, positioning your work piece beneath the drill, actually machining the hole and then turning the spindle off again. For this reason, many manufacturing companies are adopting the use of CNC machinery because it saves time and labor costs while improving precision.

Buying jeans doesn’t seem like a big deal. You go to the store, you pick out what you like and what fits you, and you go on with your life. If you stop and think, though, your jeans really didn’t come from the store. They came from somewhere else as a raw material and were transformed into jeans through a process that’s probably longer and more complex than you would expect it to be. With that in mind, take the time to consider where things are coming from. It’s fascinating to learn about your world and all of the products that are created in it, from their beginnings as raw materials to their endings in your shopping cart.

The Apple Bottoms that you have on didn’t start out as jeans. They didn’t even start out as fabric. They came from plants that were woven into material, and from synthetics that were created. Like most products, they got their start somewhere far away. They were grown and harvested by people who live far different kinds of lives than the one you’re living. Then they moved down a supply chain where what they collected was shipped somewhere else to be processed, turned into another material, and shipped out again. Eventually, they reached their final destination, and that allowed you to buy them and wear them. Supply chains are surprising things, and most people don’t realize how they work and how much effort goes into them.

If the supply chain has problems somewhere on it, it affects everything past that point. If you can’t get your favorite jeans, it could be because the people who make them can’t get the materials that they need in order to get them created and shipped to the store. What happens in one part of the world can have a big impact on the rest of it, since we’re really all in this together.

There are a number of trends that are currently having an impact on the job market. It is important to consider these current trends and how they are going to change the job market, especially if you are looking for a job or a career right now.

First and foremost, you should look beyond the country that you live in because there are going to be emerging markets all over the world, including Asia and Eastern Europe for example. Another good example is India, because India is trying to build a huge IT sector and they need as many as 8,000 more businesses in order to make it happen. The next decade is going to be all about international business.

Next, you are going to want to consider opportunities in wireless mobile. The wireless and mobile market is going to explode in the next decade, and will provide many fresh graduates with brand new and exciting opportunities in the process. Wireless access to information, wireless-specific functionality and rich graphics, real-time games, and video are all going to be big topics in the coming years.

Another concept to consider is growth within patents and intellectual property markets. As more companies are coming out with proprietary systems, software, hardware and ideas, patents and intellectual property law are going to be increasingly important, and so there are going to be a lot of new jobs in this sector in the coming decades. The number of patents being issued every year is growing significantly, a sign that this industry is only going to continue growing for some time.

The trends that impact jobs are going to change from year to year depending on what’s hot and who is sought after, but some things remain the same. For example, the tech and IT industries are only expected to grow, as they are virtually recession proof industries in the United States and around the globe as well.

If you are considering a career in warehousing, you might want to reconsider. Technology is having a huge impact on the job market in manufacturing facilities and warehouses because automated machinery is reducing the need for workers. This means the job market in this industry is going to continue to become more competitive and manual labor jobs are going to be scarce. There have already been massive warehouse layoffs, which has partially contributed to the poor state of the economy. Don’t go into the warehouse industry unless you are a mechanic or know how to design new machines to improve processes.

Technological advances in warehouse machinery actually are pretty cool. They are saving companies millions of dollars each year, and even though they are bad for workers, there are definitely some sound benefits. Companies no longer have to pay workers because machines work for free (unless you consider the power bill). Machines also won’t complain and they will do exactly what you tell them (if you’re a good programmer).

People have a lot of limitations. They are not able to work 12 hours or more each day and then do the same quality of work each subsequent day. They also demand wages and benefits. Plus, if someone gets injured or dies, the company is going to have to make several payouts without the work. If a machine dies, it can be repaired or replaced for a one-time fee. Plus, companies don’t have to worry about making machines happy because they do not have feelings.

In general, machines are much better for companies and they do better work than humans anyway. You should stay away from jobs in this industry because the technology is only going to get better, which will decrease the amount of jobs further. Choose a career in a safer industry, like health care, or technology itself. Technology isn’t going anywhere.

The art of making clothes is old as history of mankind itself. The earliest clothes were nothing more than rudimentary pieces of cloth fixed at strategic points. Why did mankind proceed? Why not stop there? Well, man discovered it was essential to protect his body from cold, heat and rain when he went out hunting.

The same was the case for farmers as well. The lady of the house discovered that she had to keep her body protected to make sure insects and bugs did not make life miserable. From such basic and utilitarian objectives began the art of making clothes.

Today, the art of making clothes has become a multi trillion dollar industry. Each and every person on the plant requires at least one set of clothes. In fact, people seem to be satisfied at nothing less than 5 sets of basic clothes before they think of other necessities. Food, shelter and clothing form the most basic needs of mankind. Needless to say, this has created huge demand for clothes.

This is not the only reason for the high demand. Another important factor is the fact that the clothes have become a part of the fashion industry. Different sets of clothes can be worn in different ways. The overall effect on appearance of different types of clothes can be radically different.

In such a scenario, not only do people need clothes to cover their body but they also need it to look good. Ironically, wearing very little clothes too is a from of fashion. Over the years, we have made huge strides in the field of manufacturing clothes. There was a time when clothes were stitched. Today, they are manufactured in factories just as many other manmade products are manufactured. Human effort is still there but there are numerous technological innovations that has simplified the process.

People are very conscious about choosing original products in the world of fashion. To discover that one has been conned into using a spurious or fake can be very embarrassing. However, what makes it important to use originals is the quality involved.

A top notch designer who has manufactured original designer clothing will obviously focus a lot on quality. Would you want to spend a hundred dollars on a piece of cloth only to discover that it comes apart in the shortest time possible? The designer who makes such clothes will certainly lose market immediately.

There is no doubt that purchasing original designer wear is going to help you get good value for money. The price may be very high but the clothes that you buy will last for very long time and will help you use it for as long as you want.

The second factor involved in purchasing original designer clothing is the boast value. You have the option of boasting and gloating over the fact that you are in a position to afford original clothes.

The fact that designer wear often is exclusive and is designed specifically for a particular client gives you a sense of pride. Needless to say, you will never have to face the problem of discovering that another person has worn the same dress that you have. Since the dress you are wearing is designed only for you, there is no scope for any duplication.

So, what steps should you take to purchase originals? Try to get in touch with the designers directly. This was not very easy in the past especially where traveling over long distances just to purchase cloths did not make sense.

However, times have changed. Today, it is possible to buy clothes online without any difficulty or delays. You just have to charge a credit card and original designer wear will be on your doorstep without any difficulty.

There is the huge difference between the manner in which clothes were made in the past and the manner in which they are made today. The earliest clothes were not made of cloth at all. Rather, the earliest clothes were manufactured out of the skin of animals. This was because protection from the elements was the primary reason why clothes were manufactured.

Humans living in hot conditions could manage without detailed and intricate clothing. However, those living in cold regions always wanted protection from the cold. This is the reason why warm clothing was manufactured first by using the skin of sheep and other such animals.

If mankind had to wear clothes and sit idle in caves, then perhaps no further innovation would have been necessary. However, men discovered that they had to wear clothes and carry out their daily routine activities.

The same was true for women who stayed back at home to take care of the kids. This led to further innovations and modifications. Clothes had to be very easy to use. Further, they had to be long lasting.

Thirdly, they had to provide complete protection from the elements. This requirement was very important. Fourthly, clothes were considered an added bonus if they made the wearer look good.

This formed the basic parameters of stitching clothes. Even today, we look at all these aspects and factors when we are selecting clothes. If the clothing does not fit us properly, we reject it despite its many other advantages. If it restricts us from doing our daily activities, it is rejected immediately.

Of course, there is a huge difference in the clothes manufactured today and the clothes that were made in the past. For starters, we have more variety as far as the fabrics are concerned. We no longer are very dependent on the skin of animals. We can even make synthetic fabrics that will possess the necessary characteristics as we desire.

You’ve probably heard people go on and on about how technology has changed life for the better in one way or another. Technology has made communication easier and faster and improved the lives of many in small ways. But something that is becoming more common these days is for people to complain about technology. This is because technology is getting so advanced that a lot of jobs are being replaced by robots and machines. Some even blame the poor state of the economy on the advancements of technology. More and more employers are upgrading the systems they use in their workplaces to make processes more streamlined and efficient, and this means fewer employees are needed in general.

Warehouses and manufacturing employees seem to be effected the most because of technology. This is because advancements in technology have led to the mass production of goods on an automated level, which greatly reduces the amount of workers needed. What used to take an entire crew of 10 to 20 to complete in one day now takes one employee a few hours. There is almost nothing that cannot be automated anymore.

The warehouse and manufacturing environment is not the only place that is seeing layoffs due to technology. Retail stores have less need for employees in their shipping departments because machines can do the work. Technology doesn’t only affect the manual labor positions, either. With fewer employees, there is no longer a need for as much administration.

On the bright side, technology does create jobs, too, but they usually require more skills and education. This is possibly one reason why there has been an urge for many adults to return to school in order to be competitive in the job market. One thing is certain: you need to be careful when making a career choice nowadays because of technology.

The earliest clothes were crude attempts to cover the human body to protect it from vagaries of nature. As mankind found newer metals and as we moved from Stone to Iron Age, the protective options against nature also increased. Humans were now in a position to cut down trees and they made use of bark and leaves to cover themselves well.

The earliest clothes were probably created by tying different parts of animal skin or leaves and bark together. The process of innovation and creativity began from that day onwards. Till date, mankind is still finding newer and better ways to make clothes.

As civilization improved and as mankind grew stronger in its battle against nature, leisure time increased and scope for innovation also increased. Needles and thread were invented and better clothes were stitched. The exact age when different people started wearing different clothes and human beings started wearing more than one piece of cloth on the body is not known.

However, clothes became common once the needle and thread was invented. However, many centuries were to pass before further improvisations were made. There was no device available that could automate the process until the sewing machine was invented.

Stitching by hand was finally replaced by machine stitching only after the industrial revolution took place in Europe. Sewing machines were invented along with various other devices and stitching finally became a mechanical job instead of a laborious one.

Today, stitching is primarily done by machines because it is very easy to stitch large number of clothes without loss of quality. Earlier, clothes were held together by very loose threads. Today, even tough denim fabric can be held together by strong stitches and even rivets can be fitted into the clothes to improve strength. All this has taken place simply because of advancement of technology.

There’s no doubt about it. Technology is changing the way people live their lives and the way they conduct business. When it comes to the business world, technology has definitely changed the way business is done. From easy file sharing using software like Ares to saving money on programs by using open source alternatives like Open Office, technology, whether for good or bad, is here to stay and is changing the way people perform even the most basic tasks.

Perhaps one of the biggest changes the business world has seen is with the actual employees. No longer do employees actually have to be in the office to do their job. Many employees can work remotely or from home, without missing a beat. With the Internet and networking of computers, it’s easy to work from any location without missing your deadlines.

Digital media, like Skype, video conferencing, and sharing large files via FTP with programs like FileZilla has also made a difference to business. It’s cheaper and easier to have meetings and conference calls with offices around the world with the quick ability to communicate face-to-face. You don’t have to be in the same office to get on the same page with projects and company goals. All you need to do is log in to a video conferencing system and you can have a meeting anywhere, anytime. Plus, with the advent of software like VLC and Xvid, you can now get free programs to see multimedia on any platform.

Not to be missed in a discussion about technology in the workplace is the iPhone. You can literally be in touch with your office from the palm of your hand. Post videos, read your email, chat with your co-workers, or take a break and play Angry Birds. You can have your entire office in your hand and keep working no matter where you are. This, of course, can be a blessing and a curse. It’s nice to be able to stay in touch with your office when you are traveling, but it’s difficult to actually get away from the office when your work is always just a click away.

With today’s technology advancing at alarming rates it is hard to stay on top of developments. A laptop over four years old is almost obsolete so where does that put the good old fashioned watch? Will watches die an unnatural death with cellphones taking over as the timepiece of choice?

The watch has an interesting history. From artistically designed fine works of art to the cheap throw-away digital variety, watches have stood the test of time and I believe they are here to stay. There is a change however from the fifties where a watch was simply a timepiece and nothing more to today where the watch is multifunctional and serves as fashion statement as well as an indication of our success and life style.

Today people are very selective in their watches. It must make a statement, show attitude and sophistication as well as tell the time flawlessly. With the move to go green and re-use and re-cycle, people would prefer a good quality watch with different interchangeable straps and faces to mix and match with accessories than than have a number of different watches. It means that the while the mass production of the cheap $15 watch may see a decline, high quality works of art like Michele Watches will not.

Michele Watches are committed to providing excellence. They know that their discerning customer wants flair and fashion combined with functionality and perfection. They cater to a wide market, from the upwardly mobile and successful to the sports fanatic and the fashion conscious. Time honoured masterpieces, Michele Watches will not go out of fashion due to advancements in technology. There is something to be said for tried and tested timepieces of the past. Comforting and reliable, they are an outlet for self expression and no techno gadget is going to replace that.

What are the latest technologies being used to make clothes? How has technology simplified the process of making clothes? Well, the entire process has been computerized. Clothes are not manufactured according to specific measurements of individuals. Rather, it is made by following the assembly line model.

The average measurement of an individual of specific age, height and weight is ascertained and clothes are manufactured accordingly. Customers walk into stores but do not offer their measurement for stitching clothes. Rather, they check out ready made clothes pre-stitched for their size. Of course, not all clothes will fit equally well.

However, an average individual will easily enjoy a good fit. The biggest advantage with this process is that clothes are made in advance and individuals can buy them at their leisure. This has drastically changed the manner in which clothes were purchased.

Earlier, clothes had to be stitched after giving the measurement. This often delayed and complicated the process. In any case, it was impossible to make machine to run the process. To adjust a machine making 42 inches shirt to a size L T shirt is just not possible. However, to create two machines and assigning a task to each a specific machine is technically feasible.

The readymade revolution has the completely changed the fashion design industry. As on date, designers can create patterns and offer the same for the customers in advance. Depending on the demand and reaction of the customers, the design can be called a success or failure.

Of course, the original concept of contacting designers personally still exists. However, it is an option that is no longer mandatory. That is to say, people who insist on dealing with exclusive designers and are ready to pay for it can opt for such a solution. Others can simply buy ready made clothes.

Why are robots being preferred in the fashion industry for tailoring and stitching clothes? Robots are easier to program, more efficient, less troublesome and work at almost zero error rate.

Standard measurements have been established and the job of cutting the fabric has been handed over to machines. The fabric is fed into the machines and is cut in appropriate pieces. This is then handed over to the stitching department. Once this process is completed, the parts of the entire dress have to be stitched together and finishing touches have to be made where required. If there is scope of something going wrong, it is during the stitching and finishing process because this is where manual labor is involved.

Use of robots in stitching improves efficiency and accuracy. However, it also raises costs. The cost of building robots designed for this task and maintaining it can be very expensive. On the other hand, textile companies make use of cheap labor available in Asian countries like China, India, Vietnam etc for stitching. The labor works for very low wages as the company simply has to comply with minimum wage rate of the foreign country.

There are instances where products that have been stitched for just $1 are sold for $100 in American markets. Needless to say, this offers a huge profit margin for the company. However, there is growing realization that this approach is unethical and should not be encouraged. The main criticism is that the textile companies spend more on their advertising campaigns than on paying the most important component of the labor force.

With robots taking up this job, even this employment avenue for citizens of developing countries is coming to an end. On the other hand, the fashion industry looks forward to creating more designs in an automated manner without any difficulty.

There was a time when an individual wearing a loose fitting pair of jeans would be advised to visit the nearest tailoring outlet and get the same repaired as early as possible. Today, extremely low waist genes that show all that should not be shown have become a fashion trend. Designers enjoy more options because it is possible to alter the fabric in many different ways without incurring heavy expenditure or facing any complications.

For example, the fabric can be scuffed to make it look as if it is very old. Denim companies have come up with such jeans that makes the individual look as if he or she has owned the pair for a long time. In the same way, students prefer those jeans that have cuts at strategy points near their knee joint and thighs. All this has become a part of fashion trend even if it serves no utilitarian purpose whatsoever.

All this has become possible only because of improvements in stitching technology. The entire process can be completed without any adverse impact on quality of the fabric. In the past, expecting a tailored to stitch worn and scruffy clothes would obviously affect the finish. Today, this is not a problem at all.

Cutting the fabric in the right manner and stitching it has become very simple. With more and more about technology and automation being introduced into the process, loss of jobs is inevitable. Can the fashion industry survive without its foot soldiers? This is a very important question that only time will answer.

One just has to wait and see whether machines have the capacity of recreating each and every design that the human brain is capable of thinking. Until that is proved beyond doubt, there is no scope of fashion and stitching becoming a less labor intensive business.

The fashion industry is a very big industry encompassing not just designers but various other individuals who have absolutely zero creativity or designing skills. There are executives who arrange events where products made by fashion designers are showcased and launched. They work like event managers and try to market the product in the most attractive manner possible.

Those who coordinate release of information with various media agencies including online sources have a job no different than the media manager of any big organization. Hence, it is not compulsory for you to be a fashion designer to enjoy a career in the fashion industry.

While your fashion sense may not be as bad as Anna Hathway in The Devil Wears Prada, you certainly do not need a high level of appreciation of fashion as long as you can do your job properly.

If such jobs do not appeal and if you want to become a designer, the best way to improve your skills is to join a fashion designers as an apprentice. It is important to make your choice wisely. Some persons are of the opinion that signing up as an apprentice in a big firm is the best way to get maximum exposure. However, others feel that working as an apprentice in a smaller firm makes more sense. In a big firm, you are a nameless and faceless employee.

On the other hand, working with a small house may result in lower exposure to the world of celebrities but will offer improved chances of learning more. Your decision should be based on the level of exposure you require. If you want more exposure to the glamorous aspect of the business, then you should prefer working with big shots. On the other hand, if you want to sharpen your basics, then working with a small house is not a bad idea.

A very significant difference between the manner in which clothes were made in the past and the manner in which they made today is the use of accessories and ornamental objects in the attire itself. Earlier, clothes were worn primarily to protect the body from harm. As far as beauty was concerned, people relied more on jewelry and other such objects.

However, we have dresses that comes embossed with various ornaments and designs. Clothes are no longer all about utility. We wear clothes because it makes us look good. In such a scenario, designers have come up with various alternatives and solutions to make the individual look good. This has obviously had a major impact on the manner in which clothes are stitched.

Firstly, no longer do we restrict ourselves to cotton and wool. We use silk, satin, rayon and even paper, cardboard and wood in clothes. Secondly, we have different clothes with different accessories that have to be maintained differently. This has affected the manner in which such clothes were designed. Thirdly, accessories have been categorized and are used with specific attires to create a specific impact.

A cravat is a formal accessory while a scarf can be used in casual settings as well. A neck scarf is different as compared to on which sits on the shoulders. Fashion industry thrives on making smart use of accessories. From different scarves to use of diamonds in clothes – there are many options and customizations available.

Improvement in process of making clothes is not restricted to aesthetics alone. It has helped make clothes stronger and last longer. A set that is properly maintained can last a long time and can be worn with different accessories. Tears can be repaired and even discoloration can be repaired by dyeing the dress or set again.

The invention of strong and good quality threads had a huge impact on the manner in which clothes are made. The earliest threads were organic in nature. People used leaves and bark that had been cut in very fine strips.

The basic function of the thread was to hold the clothes together to the maximum extent possible. Since bark was available very easily, breakage was not an issue. People could always stitch the clothes together again using bark or leaves from trees around them. This might have worked in the past but it cannot work today. Can you imagine civilized society today if each and every person were to walk around fearing that his or her dress may fall apart any moment?

Threads used to hold clothes together had to be very strong and yet had to be very fine and thin. A big thread would automatically be visible and would spoil the show. Thick threads cause bigger indentation during stitching. This will affect the overall life and quality of the cloth.

Unless one intends to showcase threads in a clear manner, it is understood that threads shall remain on the inside and hold the attire together without being very obvious. In such a scenario, creating thin but very strong thread became an imperative requirement of stitching.

Invention of sewing machine made it essential for threads to withstand high speed stitching processes. The needle moves in and out of the fabric at very high speeds. Further, the mechanism is such that the cloth is moved in the desired direction automatically.

The thread had to not just withstand impact but also sustain its strength over long durations. The clothes that are used are washed on an almost daily basis. Threads have to be strong enough to withstand the chemicals used to clean the attire. Stitching processes evolved only because better threads were manufactured.
